Yogi, a Pendle witch
Everyone knows the story of the Pendle witches and the famous trial that took place in 1612. Well... that's not the case here.
Yogi is a witch in Pendle, true. But it took her a long time to discover her true nature. And when the revelation took place Yogi was too old to learn the main secret of witchcraft. As a result, she was a toxically confused witch.
The things Yogi could do with her powers she usually didn't. What she wasn't supposed to do she always did and caused trouble. For example, Yogi could make it rain. But as it rained a lot in the region where she lived, Yogi tried to make it stop raining. And the result was always the same: more rain and flooding.
She only realized that she couldn't make it stop raining after her house was flooded twice. The economic damage Yogi has suffered by buying stock from a stockbroker. She eventually managed to earn enough to repair the house both times, which made her believe she had the power to manipulate the stock market.
Convinced that she could become a millionaire, Yogi took a loan from the Bank, pledged the house as mortgage collateral, and put all the money into stock. That was two weeks before the subprime crisis turned trillions of dollars in stocks into worthless junk. Yogi lost all his invested money and was left with the debt. Finally she realized that finance wizards are far dirtier and more powerful than she is.
This disappointment caused the witch in Pendle to start drinking. Before long, because of a family predisposition, she became an alcoholic. As almost always happens in these cases, Yogi ended up getting drunk with a guy and took him to her house. This guy was a good man, but the proximity of the alcoholic witch didn't do him much good. The virtues he had he lost, the vices he didn't have he acquired. And eventually Yogi decided to break off the relationship.
After the breakup there was a small accident. It was winter in Pendle and an invisible infiltration of rainwater caused a small crack in the living room wall as the water froze. The crack weakened the nail holding a frame and it fell to the ground overnight.
The next morning Yogi saw it and was stunned. Someone had certainly cast a spell on her house. Yogi summoned his demons and focused them on a steel nail to put the picture back in place and close the hole through which the spell had entered her house.
Apparently the incantation worked. But the next day, the picture was on the ground again and it made the Pendle witch's legs wobble. She needed a bigger nail and a more powerful incantation. As she didn't have any more nails at home she decided to go to a nearby store and buy them.
On the way Yogi came across his ex-partner. He lowered his head when he saw her. This sign of weakness was interpreted as a provocation. So Yogi wished he would drop dead. And the only thing that happened was a blizzard that covered Pendle in a white cloak.
The witch returned to her house with difficulty. After lighting the fireplace and putting on some warm clothing, she again conjured her demons and closed the hole through which the malevolent spell had entered her house. But before he finished driving the nail into the wall Yogi hammered the middle finger of the hand used to hold the nail.
Yogi's finger was very sore and, to make matters worse, she didn't have painkillers at home and couldn't go buy it because of the blizzard. She started cursing and that only made the blizzard worse. Eventually the entire town of Pendle was buried in 2 meters of snow.
That night it continued to snow and Yogi could not sleep. Then she started imagining things. First, she figured the other Pendle witches had turned against her. Afterwards, she delirious with longing for the man who warmed and stimulated her every night. He certainly should be a wizard. Yogi knew that she was not young and that time had already begun to make her feminine attractions fall apart. Damn spell... sometimes she could hear the noise of the little demons working in the hole to push in the nail in order to unlock the hole and invade her house again. And to make matters worse, the injured middle finger kept aching and throbbing.
On the night of the blizzard, Yogi's ex-husband quarreled with his sister and said he would become homeless. On the street, with some difficulty he crossed the 200 meters that separated the gate of his sister's house from the witch's residence where he had lived for some time. The wizard had started watching Yogi through the window when the Pendle witch hammered her finger.
At that exact moment, his sister was talking to a distant friend on WhatsApp. She was sorry for having quarreled with her emotionally wounded and distressed brother. She was afraid her brother would freeze to death in the street. The person she was talking to said that the petty woman was an unhappy witch.
Seeing the wicked ex-wife hurt her finger lifted the poor man's spirits. He came home laughing, but stopped laughing before entering because he didn't want them to notice that he was starting to destroy Yogi's charm on him. His sister couldn't sleep that night. Her friend in a distant country didn't sleep either, because a recurrent idea kept pounding in his head: that witch from Pendle is very dangerous. Obviously he was wrong. She was just a mean, unhappy old woman.
Well... The truth is, Yogi's story isn't over yet. It will never end. I'm sure that in any city on the planet there is a woman, or possibly a man, petty enough to be considered a clone of the Pendle witch.
