AI black holes
Today I decided to test the abilities of Microsof's AI that generates images.
The first image generated was of a black hole. The rest are variations on this same theme as if the black hole had been created in the 1st century BC, in the Middle Ages and imagined by an Artificial Intelligence.
The association between the black hole and the horse, an animal associated with Poseidon, is curious. God of the sea, earthquakes and storms, Poseidon is associated with the forces of nature that become uncontrollable when released. The same could be said of a black hole. Therefore, the association between this cosmic phenomenon, the horse and Poseidon in the 1st century BC can be considered appropriate. However, the horse generated by the AI has 5 legs and not 4.
The third image associates the black hole with angels and the great creator of the universe. No mystery here. This association is extremely predictable, since that period of human history was dominated by religious mysticism.
In the last image, the black hole imagined by an AI, what we see is a superposition of elements that could not be combined without violating the principles of physics. It's impossible to know what's inside a black hole. Called "black boxes", AIs are also mysterious. No one knows exactly what calculations it performs to provide one result and not another.
Hallucinations produced by text-generating AIs are inappropriate, unwanted and, depending on the context, extremely dangerous results. Image-generating AIs produce hallucinatory results without this being considered a problem.
